Soup for the planet

Monday is soup day around here, nice, unpretentious, good-for-you soup. So I cut up all the vegetables I found in the fridge and put them in the stock pot. This time there was leftover cabbage from making stuffed cabbage with my Mum yesterday, some carrots, a piece of celeriac and a stick of leek. No potatoes! And it's raining. So I resorted to a bag of Smash I had bought a while ago as a standby. The idea came from my completely un-foodie friend S., who surprised me with Smash as a companion to a roast, and, surprise surprise, it tasted ok. Well, I stirred it in the soup and it did add that potato-ey starchiness.
